CASC Performance Course

Sometimes there is a gap between skills and performance.

The CASC is not just a test of your clinical acumen and communication skills — it is a test of who you are in the room, how you authentically connect with the role player and how you stay grounded when a station is not going well.

It also tests how you recover between stations and show up fully for the next one. These are advanced skills that separate the good candidates from the excellent ones. Working on psychological readiness helps you put in the exam performance that exponentially increased your success rate.

Dr Abrar Hussain has observed what separates candidates who pass from those who don't. Time and again, the difference is not just clinical knowledge or the ability to communicate. It is psychological readiness and the ability to build genuine human connection under pressure especially when the stakes are high an examiner is watching every move.

Did you know that 80% of the candidates report anxiety on the day of the exam as a limiting factor? These candidates have the skills needed to see patients safely but struggle in the exam hall.

The CASC Performance course draws on two powerful frameworks — Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) — to help you understand yourself as a clinician and as a candidate. You will explore how your own patterns, beliefs, and internal responses show up in the exam room, often without you realising it. You will learn to recognise the parts of you that freeze under scrutiny, that over-explain under pressure, or that struggle to connect when anxiety is high — and you will develop practical tools to work with those parts rather than against them.

The result is a candidate who feels different in the room. Grounded rather than reactive. Present rather than mechanical. Connected rather than anxious.

This is not a course about technique. It is about the deeper work that makes technique possible — and that stays with you long after the exam is over.
